Xinjiang Responds

On the last day of the Trump administration, Secretary of State Pompeo labeled China’s de-radicalization and economic development programs in Xinjiang as “genocide” and “crimes against humanity.” His accusations angered many Chinese citizens of Xinjiang, inspiring them to submit written and video responses rebuking Pompeo. Many of these were compiled by Tianshan Net and reveal a unity of Xinjiang residents, from government officials to rural villagers, from elderly family heads to young students, and from artists to religious leaders, in rejecting the United States’ imperialist aggression. Tianshan Net has so far hosted about 450 written responses and 345 video responses, provided with English translation and subtitles.

Around 900 videos on Youtube have been compiled of Xinjiang citizens’ responses to Pompeo’s allegations. Some of them overlap with the video responses listed below. Other channels include hai cham and Uyghur Story.
